There are some spoonbills here, if you look closely…

Very excitingly, it appears that some spoonbills have returned to nest at Fairburn Ings, so we went for a walk to try and see them. Sadly the promised viewing area close by the main visitor centre had not materialised, but a kind gentleman allowed us use of his spotting scope. You can just see them on one of these images, taken at the limit of my meagre 300mm zoom lens…

In general though the walk along the River from Castleford out towards Ferry bridge is always nice and has plenty to see.
