Backstreets and Rooftops Part 2

Backstreets and Rooftops Part 2

Reading Time: 2 minutes I’ve been out again with a further installment of the project to explore the backstreets and rooftops of Hyde Park – taking loose angled shots to explore the way we would see some of these places through the corner of our eyes, but would not

The World Through Plastic

The World Through Plastic

Reading Time: 2 minutes I got out and a bout today to actually have a good outside test of the Plastic optic for my Lensbaby Composer, took it down to Woodhouse Moor to see what I could see. The weather is still vile, though as you can see a

The Birds, The Birds…

The Birds, The Birds…

Reading Time: 2 minutes On of the joys of living in a built up inner city area is the wildlife. I mean who could not adore the crows and seagulls squawking and bickering all the time. As you may guess I am being a little sarcastic here, but they

Backstreets and Rooftops

Backstreets and Rooftops

Reading Time: 2 minutes Walking around Hyde Park, I have come up with an idea I want to play with. I have always been quite taken with the local roofscapes – in a heavily built up inner-city area like this there is such a jumble of walls and roofs,

Snow Galore

Snow Galore

Reading Time: 3 minutes We’ve had quite a bit of snow over the last couple of weeks, to a point that takes me back to my childhood when I remember (whether accurately or not) far more beautiful snowy days. The first batch was round my birthday, just before Christmas.

What is the Appropriate “Disposal” for Mad Murderers

What is the Appropriate “Disposal” for Mad Murderers

Reading Time: 12 minutes In the 1930’s, Penrose conducted a sociological investigation comparing statistics relating to crime and mental disorder in various European countries. Penrose discussed a number of possible conclusions that could be drawn form his data, but two that showed noticeable statistical significance were as follows: in countries with better provision of hospital beds for the mentally disordered the prison population tended to be lower and in these countries the number of deaths attributable to homicide also tended to be lower.
These findings will be used as a springboard to discuss the dilemma of whether the most appropriate method of addressing the social problem of mentally disordered people who unlawfully kill others is penal or therapeutic disposal- that is whether the emphasis of the sentence should be on punishment or treatment.

Birthday, Christmas, New Site, Things and Stuff

Reading Time: < 1 minutes I’ve messed about for a couple of months with Jalbum (which is great, but a pain in the arse) and I really cannot handle ftp any more. I am moving this to a wordpress installation, and here it is. I am going to backfill going

Reading Time: 2 minutes It’s not often you get to meet a real reindeer, but we have had some visiting at work this week!
