Witherslack Hall

Witherslack Hall

Reading Time: 3 minutes We all know I do love a good bit of railway action, and the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway can be quite a regular haunt. I am much more into diesels, but I love a steam train as much as anyone. It was, however, the

Diesel Gala 2023

Diesel Gala 2023

Reading Time: 6 minutes It’s no secret that my train geekery, particularly classic UK diesels comes out fairly often (hey, I am a bona fide ferroequinologist, don’t ya know), and I am very lucky to have the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway so close. It’s also a good ting

Light Night 2021

Light Night 2021

Reading Time: 2 minutes After a missing year due to Covid19 it was exciting to get out to light night. I took my 1000D and got a few shots. However I fairly soon went back to my phone as it was easier and actually compared to the over a

Carnival 2019

Carnival 2019

Reading Time: 3 minutes Once again, we have been to the annual Leeds West Indian Carnival. I wax lyrical about this each year, so I am njot really going to rattle on and just leave this set of images to enjoy.

Terminus

Terminus

Reading Time: 3 minutes Terminus (n). The end, an etremity, and a Roman god of boundaries. What is this place of which we speak… Terminus has been around for a few months now. It had been whispered about for some time, that The Meanwood Brewery (which was previously in

Carnival Time Again

Carnival Time Again

Reading Time: 4 minutes Leeds West Indian Carnival is the oldest and one of the biggest West Indian carnival events in Britain today. Started in 1967 by Arthur France, and a group of Caribbean strengths in Leeds, it is now in it’s 50th year, and what an event it is!

Beeston Festival

Beeston Festival

Reading Time: 2 minutes Beeston Festival in Crossflatts Park – I do like that all these events have their own distinct character. Beeston is big, but suprisingly roomy – it does not feel crowded and busy and there really is something for everyone. The main band stage is relatively understated, with feelgood music of a generally rocky nature. The main area of stalls and food is immense, with easily over 100 different stalls, mostly of a very community nature – tombolas, tat, plants, books and so on.

Kirkstall Festival

Kirkstall Festival

Reading Time: 2 minutes Another of the big summer events in Leeds takes place in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey – Kirkstall Festival has been running in Leeds for 37 years now, and attracts over 25,000 people.  It has grown steadily, and has a good formula, with a large

Light Space Leeds Opening Party

Light Space Leeds Opening Party

Reading Time: 4 minutes So, I went to a little bit of a shindig last night. Felicity Hoy, with whom I did a bit of collaboration on some flyers a couple (or maybe more) years ago and who is doing great things in Sheffield has been involved with a couple

Flying Scotsman and Walking the Worth Valley

Flying Scotsman and Walking the Worth Valley

Reading Time: 3 minutes So after taking the train loving children to see Flying Scotsman earlier in the week we have been back to the Worth Valley to have a walk along the trand and (for me) to try and get some decent Scotsman photos. The route took us

Riding on a Legend

Riding on a Legend

Reading Time: 2 minutes I still have a little train freak, and I am sometimes worse. We’d been planning this as a suprise for a while. After initially saying that Loading Guage issues pevented them from getting the nation’s favourite locomotive to the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway, somehow

Carnival 2016

Carnival 2016

Reading Time: 3 minutes We managed both nights of the Carnival this year. I managed to squeeze some life from my Tamron Zoom lens and get some good shots of the Sunday night Concert. The weather was beautiful on Monday, though the light was against me from our chosen
