Canon Sureshot Sleek

Canon Sureshot Sleek

Reading Time: 4 minutes This little compact was first produced in 1996, as part of Canon’s hugely successful Sureshot range.  It is a wonderful pocket sized camera, which performs very well at metering, handling tricky exposures.

It has an in built flash, with a guide number of 7.5; with automatic, red eye reduction, and suppressed modes. One thing that is useful is that these are set by a dial, not a menu, so you can keep the flash suppressed when the camera is switched off.

Canon Sureshot Ace

Canon Sureshot Ace

Reading Time: 3 minutes Another 75p Charity shop bargain, in very good optical, mechanical and cosmetic condition. I bought this for the top mounted viewfinder to see if that could be used in street work, but the camera is so noisy it doesn’t work brilliantly for that use. About

Agfa Agfamatic Sensor 200

Agfa Agfamatic Sensor 200

Reading Time: 3 minutes This was another of my brilliant 75p finds in our local charity shop. My copy is in good mechanical, optical and cosmetic condition, though the case is a little battered. I am amazed at some of the interesting old things that crop up there. About

Agfa Optima Flash Sensor

Agfa Optima Flash Sensor

Reading Time: 4 minutes I found this quirky little camera in Oxfam for £5.99 for a copy in very good mechanical, optical and cosmetic condition, with case. There is a reasonable amount of literature on the internet about the Agfa Optima Sensor series, though much of this is in

Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim Fisheye Mod

Vivitar Ultra Wide and Slim Fisheye Mod

Reading Time: 5 minutes Fisheye photography is fun. There is no denying this. It might not be big, or clever (as the professionals put it), but it is a laugh. The world looks at you through a funky bubble. Peoples noses get bigger. You can nearly see behind your

Image Tutorial – ‘Heading North, Heading Home’

Reading Time: 8 minutes Today I would like to share a tutorial about how I made one of my recent images – ‘Heading North, Heading Home’. My idea for this image was something a little crunchy – not fully crisp and bright, but blending the dirt of a northern

The Evil Airbrush

The Evil Airbrush

Reading Time: 3 minutes …And at the end of the day, fashion photography is marketing. Whilst many of us will happily buy a misshapen carrot, if you want to advertise carrots you would show them in their best light. If you don’t like it then just avoid the fashion industry, as it is not going to change. Sorry.
Sozzani’s comment is meaningless. I would warrant that the ‘very few’ who don’t use Photoshop don’t use it because they use something else…

Luddite 200

Luddite 200

Reading Time: 3 minutes I was invited to come and document this gig at TJ’s in Woodhouse, commemorating 200 year anniversary of the Luddite Rebellion, with Chumbawamba, Dan Audio and some other acts who have slipped my memory. The term Luddite is one often used as an insult and

X-pro

X-pro

Reading Time: 3 minutes I found this little page today, and thought that I would re-blog it. http://pixelfarmize.wordpress.com/2009/04/16/xpro-film-chart/ It has got me thinking a bit about cross-processing, and the results that you get. Cross processing has become a bit of a trend at the moment, with the whole l*mography

Hallowe’en, Mush

Hallowe’en, Mush

Reading Time: 2 minutes I got a tip off about this event, that a couple of contacts were playing at, that it may be worth a photography blag, which was successful. I’d not really been aware of Mush before, but it was a good blend of harder music and

Vivitar TW35

Vivitar TW35

Reading Time: 2 minutes This rather odd twin lens camera came from a charity shop for £2.99 I think, with a case. It has a slightly damaged battery compartment and is somewhat temperamental. About The Vivitar TW35 dates from about 1986. It is a twin lens 35mm camera; the
