Cable Cars and Eurostars

For a while, doubtless because Gordon does in one of the Thomas stories, my son has been asking to go to London. Of course the price of travel nowadays kind of precludes this as a random trip but needing to go down to Cambridge for my Sister’s wedding was the perfect chance.

We explored round Kings Cross and St Pancras first. I wanted to see the new park that has been built from the Camley Street Gasholders, but my son was getting a bit bored of walking by then. I think one of his highlights was seeing the Eurostar pull out of St Pancras!

After this we went down into the Docklands – partly for me, but I knew he would enjoy the cable car over the river. I did enjoy this, honest, despite my fear of heights! Another fun part of this, which he also loved as much as I do was the DLR out of Bank where the train shoots up from the deepedt platform on to the DLR viaducts.

We couldn’t gho back over the cable car when we planned to as a delayed flight into London City paused it’s operations, so we went onwards via train, after a scary moment when my son attempted to board a DLR train, which are diverless, while I was scrabbling for the bags – I still have flashbacks to my visions of him lost in Canning Town…

We visitied the Science museum to see the original rocket, though I think by then he was getting very tired… However he seemed to enjoy himself in the underpass back to the tube…
