Standard Cameras Conway Popular Model
So it seems this new found addiction with buying cameras is going to become a thing. I found this in Poverty Aid recently. It’s nice to start adding some more vintage cameras to the collection.
About
This box camera was apparently produced by Standard Cameras in Birmingham from around 1931 to the early 1950s. It’s a simple box and little more. I used 120 film in it, but some users have commented that they feel 620 works better.
Exposure
The best estimates I have found for the exposure is 1/50s at f/11, which would not be uncommon for the era, and meets what is reputedly the exposure table in the manual.
This would give the following:
Film | EV | Conditions |
25 | 15 | Bright Sun (Sunny 16) |
50 | 14 | Weak Hazy Sun |
100 | 13 | Cloudy Bright (No Shadows) |
200 | 12 | Open Shade; Heavy Overcast |
400 | 11 | Deep Shade; Sunset |
800 | 10 | Immediately after Sunset |
1600 | 9 | 10 Minutes After Sunset; Spotlit Subjects |
Gallery
You get 8 shots on a 120 or 620 roll. I managed 7, and here they are. This was shot to Fomapan 100, which gives some credence to the exposure table above.
