Saltaire and Shipley Glen

I have visited Saltaire a few times, but never until now known about the little tramway up to Shipley Glen – this dates from 1895 and operates narrow guage cable hauled trams. It is a lovely ride up through the woods.

Up at the top the edge of Baildon Moor the landscape is as you would expect, on the top of the glen it is quite desolate with a steep slope down the valley back to the river Aire. I loved the green and orange of the lichen on the rocks and the twisted trees.
