Rime and Sunsets

We’ve had a bit of a cold snap.

You could tell this was on the cards from Sunday night. When there’s ice and snow in the air, but no real clouds the sky above Hyde Park takes on this eerie orange glow from the reflected street-lamps, like some kind of armageddon is going to happen.

Sure enough we then had some snow. Not a lot, but that cold, icy snow that covers everything in a thin layer, and condenses as rime on the bushes and railings.

Though the cold becomes very irritating and my house is an ice-box at times I love weather like this – the way that Hyde Park gets transformed into something beautiful for a fleeting instant in time.
