Kirkstall Festival
Another of the big summer events in Leeds takes place in the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey – Kirkstall Festival has been running in Leeds for 37 years now, and attracts over 25,000 people. It has grown steadily, and has a good formula, with a large funfair, over 150 community stalls, a mainstage showcasing local acts, a youth band stage, and various displays in the Abbey itself.
We spent quite a lot of time at the Youth stage – something I have not done until now. This was mixed, I have to say with some very professional sounding bands, along with a few who were trying very hard, but didn’t quite make the cut.
The weather was very kind to us. I only have one complaint – the bar tent was way too small for the number of people and closed an hour and a half before the event ends!
