Ilkley to Bingley Trek

We took a walk over the top of Ilkley Moor the other day. I’ve been a few times up to the Cow and Calf, but never really explored much of the rest of the moor. I was researching celtic stoneworks and ended up with various references to Ilkley Moor, and particularly (which I did not know) that there is a stone circle up there.

We started off up Wells Road, and along to the tarn, before dog-legging back to White Wells, and back uip to the Dales Way and to the 12 Apostles Stone Circle.

My original thought had been to descend to Keighley but that was a bit of a detour from the circle, so I hit on a path own to Bingley, past a suitable pub! We went down via Eldwick into Bingley to complete the walk.

Here’s a few shots. I have started doing a bit more editing than before, and I think it’s definitely giving positive results.

Here’s just a few more, unmolested and straight from the camera, just because I liked them, but couldn’t be faffed going back and doing more editing.

For those interested, here’s the map – I am going to start mapping some of my walks, and at some point may play with putting the relevent photos on the map along the route.
