Freightliners and Balm Road Branch
l have been meaning to go and have a look at the Midland Road Depot for a while, but it has always seemed a bit out of the way for a special trip (Laziness, I know). But when my son had a Rugby day in Hunslet, this was a good chance. It’s quite hard to get good shots of the locomotives through the pallisade fence though you can see the very impressive Class 59 50002 “Alan J Day” in Foster Yeoman Livery. What I love is the way the yard is contguous with the Car Park, with Locomotives everywhere.

I also took a walk round the old Balm Road Branch, which connects the Middleton Railway to the main line – this is mostly disused, but I gather can be used if needed to reach the main line.
