Flying Scotsman and Walking the Worth Valley
So after taking the train loving children to see Flying Scotsman earlier in the week we have been back to the Worth Valley to have a walk along the trand and (for me) to try and get some decent Scotsman photos.
The route took us down Low Mill Lane on the side of Keighley Station, and from there onto the path that runs beside the River Worth as far as Ingrow. The first stages of this track are quite mucky, but soon settle into a pleasent Riverside Walk. I also managed quite a good shot of Standard Class 4 MT 75078 as we approached Ingrow.
From here we walked only the road Past Ingrow and down Damems Road to Damems. It says a lot that when not exploring the station, the best photo opportunity round there was a pile of old pipes, buit I am not really sure why I didn’t take some shots as we passed Damems – somewhere I rarely see other than in passing – other than that one of my aims was to time things to meet Flying Scotsman at Oakworth.
As you can see, I manged, just.
We then walked down through Vale Mills alongside Bridgehouse Beck into Haworth. I really liked this section which has quite a variation of scenery, with old mills and chapels, showing the less gentirfied edges of the village.
We walked up into the village proper and had a look round the shops and my partner sat in the park for a bit with her book as I went to search out Flying Scotsman again…
In the fields by Bridgehouse Beck, Just outside Haworth, I got my best Flying Scotsman shots.
