Edale (and the odd bit of Sheffield)

We’ve been over the Edale in Derbyshire for the weekend, for my good friend Derek’s 40th Birthday.

This has been quite an experience on many levels, mostly because this has been the first time taking my son away overnight solely by myself as his mum was working. Nothing quite compares you for the chaos a toddler can cause away from home without and you will always find you have not packed something…

Unsuprisingly I didn’t really get to take too many pictures… But here’s a few – firstly the fountains in Sheffield, where I stopped for a quick drink with a freind on the way up.

Edale is a beautiful village, tiny, a few pubs, a post office and mostly guest houses, but it’s very pretty. The bunkhouse required negociating a huge field of cows, lifting the pushchair over a gate, trying to keep an over excited 20 month old from escaping…

My friends went for a walk over the hills in the morning, I negociated the toddler to Hope, where we were meeting for lunch. It pissed it down. The child was in a full rainsuit, when he did an olive laden poo and needed changing in the rain in the play park. With a hangover…

The joys of parenting. But the scenery makes up for it. I do love Derbyshire.
