Unity Day 2016

Unity Day 2016

Reading Time: 3 minutes Another great Unity Day.

Big Truck

Big Truck

Reading Time: 2 minutes A bit of random excitement for the day. National Grid have recently needed to replace a 150 tonne transformer at the Kirkstall substation – with some of the very small streets round this part of Leeds this proved quite interesting to watch! You can read

Class 08s

Class 08s

Reading Time: 2 minutes Keighley and Worth Valley Railway have recently finished restoring a second Class 08 shunter for their fleet, and in celebration have held a special diesel day with their two Class 08s top and tailing, and double heading, journeys on the line. Over a 10 year

Kirkstall Abandonment

Kirkstall Abandonment

Reading Time: 2 minutes I have completed various photoshoots round Kirkstall, around the river and canal. It’s an interesting place, with a lot of industrial remnants. There is also this large space, semi-derelict with a rather random homeware store. For me this epitomises the idea of parafunctional spaces –

Howarth 1940s Weekend

Howarth 1940s Weekend

Reading Time: 2 minutes I think one of the places we visit most must be Haworth. Obviously there is the appeal of the Railway for me, but this time was not shops, or trains, but the annual 1940s weekend. This is always worth a visit, though it can get

Cable Cars and Eurostars

Cable Cars and Eurostars

Reading Time: 3 minutes For a while, doubtless because Gordon does in one of the Thomas stories, my son has been asking to go to London. Of course the price of travel nowadays kind of precludes this as a random trip but needing to go down to Cambridge for

Family Weddings

Family Weddings

Reading Time: 2 minutes This time I have not been roped into being a photographer, but who doesn’t love a wedding for a bit of photo action. This as my sisters wedding, so of course a nice family event, and it was nice to get down to Cambridge and

Far From Home

Far From Home

Reading Time: 2 minutes I have a dreadful confession.  Actually it’s probably not a confession, as it may well have become clear to those who follow anything I do artistically, and also I blame my son. But… I am a train geek. I think the polite term for this

Further adventures in Copyright Infringement

Further adventures in Copyright Infringement

Reading Time: < 1 minutes I am a little torn about whether to post this – I don’t want to create disquiet, or appear like someone who is difficult to work with. But I feel I have to actually protect my rights, and ensure that other people do not run

Wakefield to Dewsbury

Wakefield to Dewsbury

Reading Time: 4 minutes My aim on this walk was to join the canal at the end of Thornes Lane Wharfe, and so complete the Wakefield end of the Calder Hebble Navigation, but this appearded to have been cut off, I guess due to damage to the tow path.

Sunrise January 2016

Sunrise January 2016

Reading Time: 2 minutes Another Images from the Underground set Sunrise at the West Indian Centre.

Rave and Respect

Rave and Respect

Reading Time: 5 minutes What upsets me here is that what has been gained from this? An charity event has lost a set of images which I provided to them pro-bono to help them as a crew and promote the work they did. I will obviously not be shooting their events again, as it seems internal politics have led to a situation where members of the promotional team do not know what other members have agreed, and I don’t really want to be working in that situation. One less club on the list for me, one less photographer on the list for them. The DJ himself has lost the use of the image he wanted to use in the first place and the possibility of some future collaboration. Because of nothing more than a kickback about giving proper credit.

And that helps the music scene how?
