Carlisle

After visting in Carlisle we got a little bit of time on Sunday afternoon to have a wander around – something I’ve never had the chance to do on the previous occasions I have been.

Much of the centre of Carlisile is dominated by the Citidel comissioned by Henry VIII and completed in 1541. But there are a lot of other interesting streets and buildings.

Perhaps the best bit of Carlisle I’ve seen so far was Book Case on Castle Street. This place is like a maze and must be seen to be beleived. I very much want to go back when we don’t have bored kids causing pestering.

Waiting to go home, always a chance for a bit of station photography with a Class 221 Voyager headed up the East Coast Main Line, and Rail Charter Service’s Class 43 HST set which had been running tours on the Settle to Carlisle Line.
