Ripon

With the recent cap on bus fares we decided to take advantage and visit Ripon, somewhere that I have so far never actually managed to visit. Just as we picked up the 36 bus in Chapel Allerton the heavens opened.

To escape the rain we started in the Cathedral. The Catherdral, in its present form, was built between the Thirteenth and Sixteenth Centuries.

I have always enjoyed shooting wide angle inside catherdrals and churches as I think this can give some lovely images, though I am always very conscious of how loud the shutter sounds!

We also went down into the Seventh Century crypt, originally part of St Wilfred’s church, previously on the site.

With the rain finally (nearly) abated we explored the shops and had lunch in the truly excellent Royal Oak.
