Kirkstall Festival

Once again we have had a nice sunny day for the annual Kirkstall Festival, and once again I have to entirely admit that we spent much of the day in the Beer Tent. I’ve noticed something over the last few years and that is that the quality (for me at least) of the stalls has gone a bit down hill. What once had quite a few interesting food and plant stalls and tat stalls seems to be now tombolas and more tombolas. I’ve got some interesting things in the past from tat stalls – a Tenor recorder, a didgeridoo… now the few things that may be of interest are mostly hidden behind raffle tickets – if I want an old second hand thingumyjig, let me buy it, not risk winning an out of date can of Stella.

However I took the new Fuji and took some photos, this time with the Eterna film simulation and the kit lens.

I did however also knock off a quick job as it were, to test the fisheye lens in the Abbey, though the light was very glary… However f/2 and the high ISO of the camera made it simple in the darker vestibules.

The East Asian Arts groups recitals were the high point (I want a Sitar). Other than that I bought some mushrooms (of a culinary type…) and drank beer, endured the ubiquitous rendtion of “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes which someone seems to sing on the main stage every year, and ended up in the Brudenell Social avoiding the football…
