The Whore
This is the first track from the next project – A Walk on Part. I know, I should be finishing what I am doing already, but I was messing about with some ideas and the track kind of fell together to the Lyrics I had written previously.
This deals with the dark side of ties to my Home Town and the insidious and often abusive psychological relationship between a person and the city they live in. For much of the early time I was in Leeds I found mysefl repeatedly going back to Cambridge – I am not sure it was because I missed it, or because my life in Leeds was insufficient, but it was a kind of unexplainable pull, almost as if the genii locorum of the place were pulling me back – “Hey, we’re not finished with you yet”.
It was like a drug addiction, or more acurately perhaps like an addiction to a prostitute – pulling me back, demanding I spend my money and emotions, yet giving me less and less in return.
I will openly admit that virtually of this was programmed, rather than played live – and I don’t really give two hoots what anyone may say about this. The technology is there to give us the sounds we want. I played the (distinctly Tim Bricheno sounding) guitar solo though…
