Claire
They were still young when he first met her,
To fragile to hold, he feared she would be torn.
So many miles and lives between them,
It could have been, but life was just too cruel.
And on that day when she first held him,
She felt him inside, for the very first time,
Listening to the world go on around them,
A tapestry of dreams too rich to know.
And could he say that he really loved her?
They both went home and time would take its toll,
And how they tried, but both too young to take it,
And never that last chance to kiss goodbye.
She’s the girl, from the campfire circle,
Give me time to understand,
She’s the girl, still too young to own,
So far away, I could not hold,
She’s the girl, in the precious memories,
Angel born, in my young eyes,
She’s the girl, in all the Love-songs,
She’s the girl, with the smile.

Sleeve Notes:
This goes back, back a long long time. The fool is still a boy, boy meets girl…
A long time ago this was aimed as a bit of a grungey rock song, something that it has kept along with the synth background that ties the album together. This is a love song about two people who for a couple of days believed it all, when they were still really very young. It’s a memory of care-free days.
This uses Air Vacuum pro, and the wonderful (and free) Dexed. Guitars are a Redwood RB-5 Bass, Vintage Metal Axxe Reaper, Redwood R3 (who says inexpensive guitars can’t be cool) and Stagg EDB.
For a girl from Northampton named Claire, long ago.
