Ice Grey, Snow White
It’s Christmas, or has been, it’s bloody cold (what a surprise), I have new paper…
Christmas always becomes chaotic in our house and it’s sometimes hard to take time out and do al the things I would like to in my time off work. I’ve managed to grab a bit though, and inspired by winter worked on a few little ideas.
This first is my expanded version of a snow tutorial in a Geoff Kersey pocket book I got for Christmas – the tutorial was the brown grasses, but I decided to make this into a full scene. This is on Arches 300gsm Rough. I love the letterbox format.

These paintings are loosely inspired by some photos I took in the park, one of which is here, on those days when the winter mists and snow turn the landscape to monochrome. I used the ultramarine ash and the two greys from the Winsor and Newton Revival set. The first is on Arches, the second on Winsor and Newton 300gsm NOT.

I will try and get some reviews and experiements with the other exciting things I got for Christmas up over the coming weeks.
