Inside the Sketchbook Vol. 1

One feature I very much enjoy on the Jacksons Art Blog is the insight into other artists sketchbooks. Often this is something very personal and many artists would flinch at this idea – it is reputed that Turner once chased a woman round a table to prevent her seeing his sketchbooks (now of which many are online, via The Tate) and while I am no Master I do find value in seeing other artists preperations, experiments and sketches.

So I will be publishing some of mine and hope that others will also find it of use or interest.

This is an A5 spiral bound book, obtained from Poundland in the UK – actually very nice paper for the price and proof that inexpensive materials have their uses. This dates from around November 2023 to December 2024.

As you can see, this is a mixture of sketches, small paintings and a lot of colour tests.
